Performance Analysis of a 300 MW Coal-Fired Power Unit during the Transient Processes for Peak Shaving

A simulation model based on Dymola modelling was developed to investigate the dynamic characteristics of automatic generation control (AGC) for variable-load thermal power units in this study. Specifically, a 300 MW unit from plant northern China used verify model’s validity steady-state processes and analyze behavior main parameters under different rates load changes. The economic performance changes is also analyzed by combining indexes “two regulations” grid. Results indicate that as rate increases, boiler output, steam temperature, reheat pressure, working temperatures various equipment fluctuate more intensely. at reduction 2.0% Pe MW/min, maximum deviation temperature can reach 7.6 °C, with screen-type superheater experiencing largest heat exchange. To achieve balance between safety economics unit, raising should not exceed 1.2% 0.8% MW/min.
